ABOUT GRYPHITI

Gryphiti is an online news source for the Bangor Grammar School 1st XV.

Gryphiti was formed in 2011, stemming as a branch from the existing BGS in-school monthly newsletter.  During this season, we produced match programmes for all Ulster Schools' Cup, and Subsidiary Shield matches.  The aim of doing so was to educate the fans, and to raise the profile of rugby (mainly the 1st XV team) within the school.

The following season we expanded our coverage to include some photographs (courtesy of Ken Best, Brian Mellon and Giles Strutt) and produced video match highlights for Schools' Cup games (whilst continuing with the programmes).

In 2013 we provided some coverage for non-competitive friendlies for the first time, as well as all the usual features.  It was during this season that Giles Strutt formally joined the team, providing a plethora of stunning photographs.

2014 was the start of a new era at Bangor Grammar, with the opening of new facilities at Gransha Road.  Alongside matches, we provided live 'in-match' text updates on our Facebook page, and new Twitter page.

Since then, we have been bringing you all of the action straight from every match.  Last season, we brought you weekly 'Gryphiti Classics' straight from the Gryphiti video archive.  Keep your eyes peeled for more of those this year.  Last year, we also had the pleasure of working alongside esteemed photographer (and rugby dad) Stephen McCrossan.

We hope you follow us throughout this season, as we continue to cover matches of the senior teams at Bangor Grammar School and bring you every twist and turn of the new season.

If you would like to get involved at Gryphiti, please send us a message through the contact page of the website.  We'd love to have you involved - aspiring photographers, videographers, reporters, or if you just want to be part of the team.
